COMPANY PROFILE
SUTARIA SONS's roots lie in JAMANGAR, a city whose founders were enlightened patrons of the arts and crafts. Skilled craftsmen were invited to settle here and were ensured a secure livelihood. In the JAMNAGAR tradition, SUTARIA SONS tries to maintain an open and honest relationship with its craftspersons. It helps them to work in conditions of their own choosing and commits itself to providing them with sustained work.
The hand block is carved out of wood and is the simplest of printing devices. Dyeing with vegetable colours is the oldest of colouring techniques. As pioneers of hand block printing SUTARIA SONS has built on these for the last thirty years. It constantly seeks to create an environment in which traditional textiles have their place and value and to build a symbiotic relationship between the market and the design product - between skill and tradition.
SUTARIA SONS's designs blend contemporary sensibilities with traditions of excellence. Its designers seek the bold and the striking, the graphic and the colourful, using modern printing techniques to keep pace with a demanding and fast moving world market, keeping the spirit of resurgence always alive.
For many years, SUTARIA SONS has also been developing products in specialised areas such as appliqué, embroidery, patchwork and bead work, which now constitute a significant part of its product range. Together with garments - Indian and Western in design - KURTIS,SAREES,SALWAR SUITS,RUNNING MATERIALS,SKIRTS,DUPATTAS AND BED SHEETS.SUTARIA SONS offers a diverse and colourful selection of products.
In an attempt to maintain the highest standards of quality necessitated by its customer profile world wide, all the fabric procurement, finishing, checking, and packaging is done at SUTARIA SONS's office at a farm on the outskirts of JAMNAGAR. SUTARIA SONS has a state of the art work units. The company deals with more than ten different units which have largely hereditary practitioners of their respective craft.
SUTARIA SONS has three hundred employees working on its premises at JAMNAGAR,KUTCH AND RAJASTHAN.In all through its activities,SUTARIA SONS provides a livelihood for more than a 500 people.

Since 1985 when the first SUTARIA SONS has created a distinct idiom in its designs and a unique identity for itself.SUTARIA SONS was one of the first 'designer' labels in the country, which while drawing upon the Indian heritage in textiles also reflected a very contemporary sensibility in the design of its fabrics and clothing for men and women.
Even as the main business of SUTARIA SONS has been to design and produce a range of clothing for its retail outlets catering to an urban market, the underlying concern has always been with the diverse traditions of fabric making and embellishing in India. It has strived to work with crafts people towards improving their crafts, building upon their skills and knowledge by suggesting contemporary design directions and providing a market for their produce. In the process, SUTARIA SONS has played a modest role in rejuvenating many dying traditional crafts.
At SUTARIA SONS, craft is not treated like fashion novelty to be forgotten when not in vogue. The attempt has been to constantly find new design directions for the same crafts. It is a design challenge to innovate and continue working with craft communities with which working relationships have been built over the last 25 years. Today this network of many hundred craftspeople form the base for our creations. We at SUTARIA SONS are committed to improving the quality of the craft techniques and encourage the younger generation to continue pursuing their craft tradition.
SUTARIA SONS works with handloom or hand crafted (hand woven, block printed, tie & dye) textiles. All textiles are designed at our design studio and produced by very skilled traditional craftspeople from all over the country including in JAMNAGAR,KUTCH AND RAJASTHAN. Clothes are designed and produced at the SUTARIA SONS WORKSHOP in JAMNAGAR.HAND APPLIQUE, hand embroidery, mookesh work and applique is done by a large number of traditional craft people in and around JAMNAGAR
